TCW Mentoring Program

The Childrens Workshop Foundation Mentoring Program is a partnership we forged with Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership, which allows our teachers, staff, and friends to help children in our communities who are in need of positive role models.  
 

Our Mission:

To enhance the lives of our youth by providing them with the guidance necessary for a successful future through Mentoring.

What is Mentoring?

Mentoring involves a one-on-one meeting between a mentor and a child.  Our Mentoring Program asks that mentors volunteer one hour per week to work with their mentee in his or her school.  We also provide 2 hours of mentor training, a mentoring manual, and periodic trainings throughout the school year.

Who Are Mentors?

Mentors participate in our ptrams from all walks of life and backgrounds and come with a sincere desire to make a positive impact on a the life of a child.

Benefits of Mentorship for the Child

Children who have a mentor are:

  • 46% less likely to begin using drugs
  • 27% less likely to use alcohol
  • 53% less likely to skip school
  • 33% less likely to engage in violence

  • more appreciative of and compassionate for people from different backgrounds
